Under The Tuscan Sun - FIRENZE Part 2

I think Day 5 of our Italian Holiday was the worst. It wasn't that bad but if you compare it with the other days of our trip, it was the day we spent the least sigh-seeing. In a way, in was good because we got to rest more! The main highlight of the day was the Uffizi Gallery and seeing David~ Oh and I forgot to charge my camera before leaving our room so most of the photos taken on this day was taken on my phone.

Palazzo Vecchio! We planned to visit this palace after we went to the Uffizi Museum but when we went back later in the afternoon, we decided not to buy the ticket to the museum inside. We just wasn't sure whether it was going to be worth it.

The fountain at Piazza della Signoria. The weather was nice in the morning but once we came out of the gallery in the afternoon.... it was unbearably hot.

If you watched the movie A Room With A View, you'll find all these building familiar because this is where they filmed the movie!

A closer view of the entrance of the Vecchio Palace~ And the sculpture on the left is a replica of Michelangelo's David!

We then entered the Uffizi Gallery. We didnt buy our tickets for the Uffizi in advanced because it's cheaper to buy at the counter but we had to queue for about 20 minutes before entering the gallery.

The famous painting of The Birth of Venus by Botticelli.

When I saw this painting, I felt like I've seen it somewhere before but I just cant rmb. Maybe I just saw it online.

You can obviously see how different the art in Florence is compared to Rome by just looking at their ceilings.

Another famous painting by Michelangelo of the Holy Family called Doni Tondo. Michelangelo also designed the wooden frame for this painting and if I'm not wrong, this is the only painting of Michelangelo's in Florence.

The painting of St. Sebastian. There were so many versions of this painting, both in Rome/The Vatican City and in Florence.

If you've seen my previous blog posts, you might find this similar because there's a same one in The Vatican City. But sorry, I can't remember which was the real one and which was the replica. I think this is the real one.

There was a cafe in the gallery and like a small patio (?) where you can get a closer view of the Vecchio Palace.

The painting of Venus of Urbino by Titian. Tour groups were all blocking my view when I wanted to take a good photo of this painting. It was annoying. They just refused to move.

And from the windows of the Uffizi Gallery, you could get a good view of the Vecchio Bridge!

This is a very disturbing painting.

I rmb being mesmerised by this painting and another one above this (photo) but this photo just doesnt do it any justice. I love how the candlelight lights up the faces of the people and the room.

After touring the whole Uffizi Gallery, we went out into the sun again!

This is the interior of the Vecchio Palace.

We then decided to go to the Galleria dell'Accademia. This photo was taken when we were standing in line, waiting to get into the gallery. It was a very long line. We waited for nearly 45 minutes before we got into the gallery to buy our tickets.

Ever wondered how unfinished sculptures would look like?
Amazing isn't it? I never really imagined how a sculpture actually comes into shape.

There you go, the famous sculpture of David by Michelangelo!
Can you imagine how big the marble he needed was to carve out this masterpiece?

Ever wondered how David'd butt looks like? kekekeke

LOL at the guy beside me. There were a lot of other people making even weirder poses around the sculpture.

Besides the main sculpture of David in the gallery, the paintings in the gallery were all very impressive as well.

There was also an instrument exhibition at the gallery. The whole gallery wasn't that big if you compare it with the other galleries that we've visited.

People made this piano to save space.

This is how the outside of the gallery looks like.

When we got out of the gallery, I think it was around 4pm. We were really tired by that time and the heat was just too much for us to handle so we decided to go for a very early dinner. We wanted to go to a place recommended by the owner of our B&B but it wasn't open when we went there so we had to go somewhere else which wasn't that good. It was expensive and charged us a lot for service when there wasn't any service provided to us at all. It was not a good experience. As you can see, I didn't even care to take any photos of our food. We ordered pizza. I ordered a pepperoni pizza which only had like 4 pathetic slices of pepperoni on it.
Anyway, we then walked back to our room, turned on the AC and chilled for the rest of the day!
