Bits & Pieces of My Summer~

Once again, it's time for me to dump some photos I took over the last few weeks into one long blog post! These will show you how my summer in London has been so far~

A bit more than a week after I came back from Italy, I went to Oxford Street with Auntie Veronica and we walked through St. Christopher's Place and it was lovely there!

It's basically a place with little shops tucked behind the busy Oxford Street with lots of nice restaurants and brasseries to eat at.

They had these very cute buntings hung around!

And these big silver balls as well~

In the following week, I got my first job as a waitress and I met with Phuong one afternoon for a chat at a pub near our place before heading to work.

About a week later, we went out for another drink together haha

The weather was nice (and hot) so we sat outside in the sun. Not my favourite thing to do but Phuong loves the sunshine. After that, we went to a second-hand clothing warehouse and did some shopping~

This is KIN. The restaurant I was previously working at.

And working there ruined my nails because I had to do a lot of dish washing. I swear my hands aged 10 years within that two weeks I worked there.

I finished another book of Rainbow Rowell's~ This was a nice one. Not the best I've read but it was a really sweet and light-hearted story~

Since I started earning money again, I decided to treat myself to some ice-cream~ I never allowed myself near the ice-cream aisle in Sainsbury's because I was scared I wasn't going to be able to resist the urge to get some. Looking at it now makes me want to buy more....
And no doubt, they tasted amazing and I can't wait to try more flavours!

Before I knew it, the day where I lost my job came along. I decided to distract myself from that bad news by going out for a breather.
I took the tube to Notting Hill Gate and walked to Kensington Gardens.

It was a cloudy and windy day but it was nice.

The Kensington Palace. I didn't go in because the admission ticket was a bit pricey.

When I was walking towards to Portobello Road, I walked past this row of beautiful houses.

Portobello Road is probably one of the longest road I've walked.

The famous row of colourful pastel coloured houses!

Along that row of houses were a row of stalls selling a lot of overpriced stuff.
Then I just continued walking along Portobello Road and walked past a lot of other shops and the local farmer's market. But because it was a Monday, it wasn't busy. I would definitely need to go back one weekend with friends.

It was almost 3pm when I decided I had done enough walking and wanted to head back to East London but before that, I decided to grab something to eat!

I needed some good food to make my day better so I stopped by a middle eastern restaurant and got a sandwich/burger made of pita bread filled with falafel, homous, chilli sauce and lots of pickled stuff and it was delicious!!!!  That huge pickled chilli was really spicy though.
It was my first time tasting a falafel and I loved it and I want more.

My special pink umbrella which can resist the strong winds of England. Well, actually, I haven't really tested how strong it is yet because there hasn't been many days with strong winds since I bought it LOL
but it's a bit too big to carry around. I would need to get a smaller one which I can tuck into my small sling bag.

Two days after that, I had to go for an interview for a froyo store in Westfield White City so I decided why not spend more time there since I've already made such a long trip there. The result of that was these items here. I spent quite a lot of money that day but it felt so good being able to spend my own money without any guilt. Most of the these were on sale anyways~
Btw, that Onsen exfoliator is the bomb. It was quite expensive but it was 50% off! It's called a "Daily Choice Peel" where it literally peels off your dry and dead skin from your face. It's in a gel form (without those gritty granules) which is so bizarre. It works so effectively and I don't know how to explain how it does its jobs so well. But I always need to make sure I wear my sunscreen the next day.
I dont think I'll ever want to go back to using normal exfoliators again.

hehehehe did more shopping! It was on sale too~

I've been thinking of getting a new perfume for a long time and every time I go to Boots, I'll go try out different perfumes to decide which one I want to get but because most of them were so expensive, I decided to go for a cheaper one which is Taylor Swift's Wonderstruck. I actually like Enchanted more so I got Wonderstruck in a 30ml size and hopefully will buy Enchanted if it goes on sell one day~ I bought this online from lookfantastic because they have free shipping~

A few days later, I went for an interview at Chipotle which sadly, I didn't get the job. I really wanted to work with Chipotle's.... :( And I personally thought the interview went quite well....
Anyway, after the interview, I walked past this cute store called Sass and Belle along New Row near Leicester Square station. Some of their stuff were on sale so I bought some gifts for Nia and Phuong since their bdays were in July. This store has so much cute stuff and I would love to buy some stuff for myself the next time I go there~

Shaftesbury Avenue. Then I walked towards Covent Garden but I'm not familiar with the streets there so I didn't spend a lot of time there.

I then walked towards Trafalgar Square because that's where I can get the bus back to my place. And I saw a floating Yoda.

The beautiful Trafalgar Square!

Then there was nice guy making these huge bubbles!

This was the following weekend where I hung out with Auntie Veronica. We went to the Westfield shopping centre in White City and did some shopping. Well, she did her shopping and I just accompanied her. But she hated the sales because there wasn't much new items out in the stores.
But we ended our day by going to a Malaysian restaurant there called Penang and their food was really good. Not that cheap though. I ordered their restaurant's specialty curry and it was really good, really authentic Malaysian curry. Their bubble tea sucked though.
Too bad they only have one store in London.....

The next day, I went out with Auntie Veronica again and we went to Oxford Street. We also had to walked through Regent Street because they were having a  "Traffic Free Sundays" thing going on so we couldn't take the bus. There was a lot going on along Regent Street but we it was bit too crowded so we decided not to join into the crowd.

Liberty's!
We then went to an old cinema near Leicester Square and watch Belle which was a very touching and meaningful movie and I really enjoyed it. Go watch it if you have the chance!

kekeke Nia bday was on the 21st of July and this was the bday card I got her hahaha
I can't help but laugh everytime I look at this card. She's a cat lover btw.

And Phuong's bday was on the 14th of July and this is the card I got her hahaha
Phuong is another crazy cat lady and when I saw this card, I knew immediately that I had to get it for her.

This is another book I finished reading recently. It took me quite a long time to finish reading it because it was not as interesting as story books but I still wanted to finish reading it because it was insightful.
As the title shows, this book focuses on introverts and I've learned a lot about myself through this book. I also realised that I do things differently and react to things differently compared to some people because I'm an introvert. Like how I cried all the time throughout my childhood, was because I was just more sensitive to my environment compared to others and there was nothing wrong with that. All my life, my mum, my uncle and so many other people around me have described me as being shy as if it was something negative/bad but that's just how I am and although I can pretend and act differently when I want to but my nature is being shy and quiet and sensitive. And the fact that I don't work that well in groups and the reason I'm quiet when I'm with a big group of people is all in my nature. And there's nothing wrong with that and I've accepted that.
But still, I always find myself trying to act differently because that's the reality of life--You always need to speak up and be chatty and socialise with others. ughhhh

Before I knew it, I was starting my new job at Kinkao! and one afternoon, before going to work, I went with Phuong to London Fields in Hackney to enjoy the summer weather~

And that weekend, Nia invited us over to her place for lunch to celebrate her bday~
Nia invited two of her friends she met at some volunteering events as well. This photo was taken and edited by Kelly~

Her mum cooked a huge amount of yummy Vietnamese food for us! I ate soooo much~ kekeke

Nia baked us cupcakes as well and she specially baked 4 different flavours~ And that day I found out that I love cherries! LOL

This is the uniform I need to wear at work! The skirt is longer than it looks in the photo. It almost touches the floor when I wear it and it's so dangerous if I walk too fast haha

I get two meals from the restaurant every time I go in to work. One meal before I start working and one meal after. I only work dinner shifts and we normally end work at around 11pm. but there are times like tonight wear we finished everything at about 12.30am and I got back to my place at 1am.

This past Tuesday, because I didn't need to go in to work, I decided to go shopping!
These two brushes I bought through Amazon though because they were cheaper on Amazon.
I've been wanting to get some make-up brushed since forever!

and these are the things I bought from Boots.
I ordered some of the stuff (the sunscreen and the lipsticks) online and picked them up from the Boots at Westfield Stratford. Shopping in Boots and Superdrug in London is such a pain because so much stuff are out of stock or there's no testers which stops you from buying them. Like that concealer, there wasn't a tester at the the store but I still bought it because I really needed a new concealer and I've heard that this concealer works really well. When i tried it out after I bought it, I realised it might be a bit too light for me. :(
As you can see, I also bought some probiotics. I read in an article that it has the ability to cure acne and reduce oiliness so I just had to try it out. I'll let you know if it works in a month's time.

Two lip-crayons that I've been wanting to get for some time now. The Revlon one is from their Matte Balm collection in the shade Sultry and I loooove it. I can wear it everyday. And although the Soap and Glory gloss stick looks like a striking orange but it's actually really sheer so I thought it'd be great to wear when I just want some colour on my lips. One downside is that it's really sticky and therefore is very annoying to wear when it's very windy and your hair just ends up sticking all over your lips.

I made these paper pom poms~ It's supposed to be round and I wanted to hang them up but because I bought the tissue paper in the wrong measurement, it turned out weird. And I couldn't find a place to hang them so they ended up on the head of my bed.

This one looks like a nice ombre colour but actually because it's been exposed to too much sun so its colour has faded LOL

I did some shopping at Westfield and bought myself a pair of new jeans~ These are the Topshop Jamie Jeans that so many people have been talking about. I thought that if I wanted to get new jeans, might as well get a good pair that I really like and would wear for the next ten years LOL
I also bought two new tops (both black LOL)~ Once again, it was so nice spending my own hard earned money without feeling guilty.

Lastly, I photo of my room~~~
I spend so much time in my room these days... Alone... just reading or watching Friends/movies/videos and just reading up more stuff online.
I haven't really blogged much about how my life at this current flat...
For the price I'm paying for this room, I think it's pretty reasonable and it's really hard to find another place as decent as this. They are some aspects of it I'm not totally satisfied with but if I want a really nice place to stay, I probably would have to pay double the rent I'm paying now and it probably won't be as near to my uni as this place is.
My uncle still hopes I can stay with a friend so that I won't be alone and yes, that'd be nice but it's not easy to just find a place for two people or even find a friend that so coincidentally wants to find a place to stay as well. And I dont mind staying alone. I have my flatmates but they consist of two married couples and a medicine student from Ireland who is only here for the summer so I'm not really "friends" with them. Plus they're all older than me and they don't seem to want to be friends... There's one female flatmate that's been living here for more than 2 years and she's really nice and friendly and I talk to her the most when we meet in the kitchen. The others just don't talk much.
But that's fine, I don't mind them not wanting to talk... we probably don't have much to talk about anyway.
Anyways, I like it here enough to continue staying here without much complaint and that's enough for me. And I really don't want to go through the whole process of looking for a place to stay again, it's too tiring.

that's all for now.
