June 2013 Vacation : Day 1 MACAU!

If you dont know already, i went on a short vacation to Macau and Hongkong recently with Yongxuan~
We booked our plane tickets last September when AirAsia had their cheap offers and it was really worth it!
It was a very spontaneous decision to go on this trip, we didnt even think much when we booked our plane tickets LOL but luckily everything worked out fine~

Day 1 of our trip (17.6.2013), we went to Macau! Our flight was at 6.30am so we needed to reach the airport at around 4.30am! I rmb i only got 3 hours of sleep the night before and Yx got close to none! XD
We tried to sleep on the plane but it was so uncomfortable....

a sucky photo of our glittery nails~

a photo before we took off!

touched down at Macau International Airport at around 10.30am~
it was quite cloudy when we reached so we were afraid it would rain but we were lucky coz it seemed like it just finished raining when we reached~ We were kinda silly because we didnt know which shuttle bus went to our hotel so we took The Venetian's shuttle bus. hahahaha and walked over to our hotel to put down our luggage~ We stayed at Sheraton Hotel! it's a five star hotel and you might be wondering how we were able to afford it. LOL we saw an amazing offer on http://www.agoda.com/ so we booked it right away when we saw it in April. I think even the staff there were wondering how we could afford it hehehe

 The Venetian!

Sheraton hotel! Running Man stayed in this hotel too when they went to Macau!

inside Venetian~ Venetian is huge, according to wikipedia, "The Venetian Macao is the largest casino in the world, and the largest single structure hotel building in Asia."

the beautiful interior of the shopping area~ we loved it there.

there was an opera performance while we were there.

We were quite hungry by that time but most of the restaurants there are really expensive so we decided to snack on something before going into the town area to eat.
so we found the famous Lord Stow's Bakery!
Venetian was so big and confusing so took quite a long time looking for this shop.

their Portuguese egg tarts are so delicious~ I'm a huge fan of portuguese egg tarts so i really loved it~
we even went back there another time on our second night and bought egg tarts and croissants! I can say that their croissant is one of the best i've even eaten and it's huge too~ i'm hungry now....

Then it was time to check-in to our room! first thing to do in the room was to search for wifi but there was no free wifi in the room TT___TT

the pools that we never went to. LOL

the view from our room~ the clouds cleared by that time~

ootd! i changed into my flip flops right away~ flip flops are the best choice of footwear in the summer weather where you dunno when it's gonna rain and especially if you're walking around a lot and if you are like me who doesnt like sneakers.

we went down to one of the lobby areas where there was wifi! and look what we saw~
a guy on stilts and a golden man.
the summer deco was really pretty. and if you spot it, there's a lady dressed like a vase!

there she is! we were busy using the wifi so we didnt go take photos.

We then took a taxi out to Taipa town!

the first thing we did was to try this local dessert called Serradura.
it was really nice! i'm not sure what's on the top but i searched for it's recipe, because i want to make it myself! and the topping is made of biscuits! and the bottom bit tasted like vanilla ice cream~
it's a really nice combination~

we also tried a mango pudding!

 from this shop!
i saw online that it's supposed to be famous for it's local desserts. but their desserts were pricier than other shops.

although there are so many tourist visiting this area everyday, and the buildings and streets were really old but it was very clean so it was very nice to walk around. the weather was very hot and humid though... so i was complaining a lot....

all their street names were in Portuguese. this street is also known as their "food street".

there wasnt much to do actually at the Taipa town area. so we just walked around and enjoyed the beautiful scenery and the peaceful atmosphere~
 do you spot something familiar?
 a yellow Starbucks sign! LOL
it was a small and cozy shop and we decided to go in and check out their menu!

we ended up ordering this Vanilla Bean frap. which wasnt as nice as we thought it would be.
there was another reason why we ordered it.... LOL according to MacBarbie07 on youtube, if you order Vanilla bean frap and add raspberry syrup, it'll taste like cotton candy. but they didnt have raspberry syrup so.... sigh....

 pretty in pink buildings~ LOL

 random photos of random stuff.
wouldnt it be scary to climb up those stairs? but i kinda want to try and see what scenery i'd be able to see from up there~

then we walked towards more shops~

 a shot of Galaxy Macau.
I was trying to find a church called Our Lady of Carmel Church but we couldnt find it....
so we decided to go for an early dinner!

we saw online that this restaurant called Dumbo was really famous so we decided to try their food.
They serve Portuguese and Macanese cuisine and we didnt know anything about the food their so we just ordered a set of dishes to make it easier. but.... we should've done our research before going....

so we had a soup which i do not know what's in it....  but it was nice.

the set included a glass of wine too.
fried rice. which i think is tomato fried rice. i'm not sure.

another dish that i dont know the name of. but i know there was chicken, pepperoni, and vegetables in it.

i just went to their website and found out that this is fried codfish cakes.
we didnt know what we were eating at that time.

this is the only dish i knew clearly what it was.... it doesnt look very appetizing does it....
that's because it's ox tongue....
and it didnt really suit our taste buds... so we ended up wasting a lot of it. we did try it though and tried to force ourselves to finish it but the taste of beef was just too strong and it was toooo tender....?
the waiter at first did ask us whether we wanted ox tongue or ox tail and we didnt know what to choose so we choose tongue which just seemed like the right choice at that moment.
if you ever get the chance to try a dish like this, you should though kekekeke
at least i can say now that i've tried something different on this trip LOL

After dinner, it started pouring very heavily and we were lucky to grab to cab back to our hotel.
we freshened up a bit and went walking around the shops again~

before shopping, we went to use some wifi first hehe
and there was this pretty water fountain.

it was so much nicer to walk about the shops in Venetian at night because there wasnt much of a crowd and it was just more comfortable to shop.
and that's it for Day 1 in Macau!
